The English release of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is almost here. With just 10 days until launch, the developers have shared a special announcement outlining some key features and adjustments coming to the global version.
These features will be ready at launch for Umamusume: Pretty Derby's English Version!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's begin with the positive news. Landscape mode during races and a music jukebox function will be available from the very first day. The development team also plans to introduce quality-of-life updates to the global version earlier than they were rolled out in Japan.
A prime example is the Guided Career feature, which the Japanese server didn't get until its fourth anniversary. Furthermore, cross-platform play will be supported, allowing you to use the same account seamlessly on both mobile and PC.
Content rollout will be accelerated
-----------------------------------
While every event and scouting banner from the Japanese version will make its way to the global release, the major difference is the accelerated pace. Players won't experience the long waiting periods between events or banners that were present in the original schedule.
Instead, the overall timeline will be compressed, though the duration of each individual event and banner will remain the same. This means you won't feel rushed to complete any single event, but you also won't get much downtime in between.
What does this mean for players? If you're familiar with JRPGs, you likely understand the implication. A faster schedule allows less time to accumulate free in-game currency between limited banners. For free-to-play users, this could make it more challenging to save enough resources to guarantee specific characters without spending.
Other games, like Heaven Burns Red, addressed this for their global launch by adjusting reward structures, but no similar changes have been announced for Umamusume. The absence of "dead weeks" also means fewer opportunities to casually complete daily tasks and stockpile resources between major events.
Only time will reveal how this accelerated approach impacts the English version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby and its long-term player engagement. In the meantime, you can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store if you haven't already.
