Amazon Slashes $50 Off Used: Like New PlayStation Portal - New Price Drop

Author : Logan Update:Jun 11,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never seen an official discount—until now, in the used market. Amazon Resale, formerly known as Amazon Warehouse, is currently offering a Used: Like New PlayStation Portal for just $150.23 with free shipping. Considering the original retail price is $199, this marks a significant 25% saving. While warranty coverage may vary, these units still come with Amazon’s standard 30-day return policy. Given the popularity of this device, we expect this deal to vanish quickly.

Update: The price has dropped further to $150.23, marking the lowest recorded price for a Used: Like New PlayStation Portal.

This unit is described as being in “Used: Like New” condition—meaning it looks and functions as if it were fresh out of the box, with only minor packaging wear noted during inspection.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony’s dedicated handheld streaming device designed for use with the PS5 console. It resembles a split-pad DualSense controller, but with an integrated 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. This allows you to stream your PS5 games remotely at up to 60fps. It replicates all the key features of the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface. With a strong and stable internet connection, you can even play while away from home. However, please note that the PS Portal is not a standalone device—it requires a PS5 to function.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal.

Sony has recently updated the functionality of the PS Portal, allowing users to stream directly via PlayStation Now cloud servers. This means you can access a library of over 120 titles—including *Ghost of Tsushima*, *Resident Evil 3 Remake*, *The Last of Us Part 1*, and *Spider-Man: Miles Morales*—without owning a PS5. A subscription to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus is required, which costs $18 per month. This is a more budget-friendly alternative compared to purchasing a PS5 and individual games separately.

While you can technically stream PS5 games using the Remote Play app on other devices like smartphones or the Steam Deck, the Portal offers a far smoother and more immersive experience. Setup is easier, and you won’t miss out on any DualSense features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

“The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever walked away loving after going in skeptical. It's such a better experience than using your phone with a slap-on controller, and it works so much better than I was anticipating. I really love the freedom it gives me to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when the rest of my family was using the TV to (somewhat ironically) play the Switch. Bearing in mind that it’s in no way a stand-alone device and 100% requires a PlayStation 5 to function at all, the biggest things keeping the Portal from being a truly amazing device are its current lack of a way to access WiFi that requires a web browser to log in, and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. For now, it's a great device that represents the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play, and if it weren't for those two baffling caveats, I'd call this a must-own device for every PS5 owner who enjoys playing games on handheld—or has to compete for the household TV.”
