Assassin's Creed: Shadows Potentially Headed to Nintendo Switch 2 Amid Ubisoft Hints
Recent comments from Ubisoft executives suggest Assassin's Creed: Shadows may be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this fiscal year. During the company's quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet dropped multiple clues pointing toward this possibility.
The Evidence Mounts
Duguet first mentioned Ubisoft's fiscal year lineup includes "a couple of other titles" to be announced later. When directly questioned about Nintendo Switch 2 releases beyond known titles like Star Wars: Outlaws, he confirmed: "We also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2."
Guillemot added fuel to speculation during discussion of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, stating: "We have also some new versions that will come on other machines." While theoretically referencing other platforms, the timing and context strongly suggest Nintendo's upcoming console.
The Investor Question Dance
When directly asked if Shadows was coming to Switch 2, Duguet skillfully dodged: "We haven't said which other games will come on the console for that coming year." This non-denial keeps speculation alive while maintaining official silence.
The rumor gained traction months ago when a PEGI rating appeared for Assassin's Creed: Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2. Though possibly erroneous, this adds to growing evidence the feudal Japan adventure could arrive on Nintendo's hardware within eight months.
A Critical Darling
In our Assassin's Creed: Shadows review scoring 8/10, we praised how "by sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style Ubisoft's honed for the last decade." A Switch 2 release would expand access to this critically acclaimed title.
Currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now and Amazon Luna, Ubisoft appears poised to add Nintendo Switch 2 to that list in the coming months.
