Bandai Namco's popular fortress strategy RPG, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage, is officially shutting down on December 9th, 2024. This isn't unexpected for many players, mirroring the fate of other Naruto gacha games like Naruto Blazing.
The game, launched in 2017, will continue operation until its end-of-service (EOS) date. Several events are planned before the shutdown: the Village Leader World Championship (October 8th-18th), an All-Out Mission (October 18th-November 1st), and a final "Thanks For Everything" campaign (November 1st-December 1st). Players can still collect cards, summon, and utilize in-game items until the final day; any remaining Gold Coins should be spent before the shutdown.
The game's decline appears linked to a shift in game mechanics. While initially praised for its balanced village-building and defense system, the introduction of powerful characters like Minato triggered a power creep. This, coupled with increased pay-to-win elements, reduced free-to-play rewards, and the near-disappearance of multiplayer features, led to player attrition and ultimately, the game's closure. The game remains available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to experience it before the shutdown.
