Bethesda's Iconic Voice Actor Shares Recovery Update

Author : Lucy Update:Apr 28,2025

Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in *The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim*, *Fallout 3*, *Starfield*, and many other titles, recently shared a heartfelt message as he recovers from a harrowing ordeal. Johnson was found "barely alive" in his hotel room last week, and a video he uploaded to a GoFundMe page revealed that he had been in a coma. The fundraiser, aimed at covering his medical expenses and bills, has already raised $174,653.

"I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you," Johnson expressed in the video.

Johnson was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. After he failed to appear at the event, his wife, Kim Johnson, called the hotel, leading to security and emergency medical technicians discovering him in a critical state. They struggled to find a pulse, and he was rushed to the hospital and placed in a coma for five days.

"Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here," Johnson recounted. "I'm still here because my wife decided to call the hotel where I was staying, doing announcing for the Alzheimer's Association, and had my son call security, and find out I was nearly dead."

Johnson expressed deep gratitude towards his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, as well as his wife Kim, for setting up the GoFundMe. He also thanked the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family during this time, and Ted Leonsis, chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company, for donating $25,000. Bethesda, where Johnson has lent his voice to numerous characters, also received his thanks for their public support.

"You say that I'm your friend. I am," Johnson said to Bethesda. "Always will be. Love you guys." He extended his appreciation to fans who have donated and shown support in other ways, affirming, "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere."

"It's going to be a while as I work my way back, but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers," Johnson concluded optimistically.

Johnson's career spans numerous film and television roles, but he is most recognized for his extensive work in Bethesda video games. His recent role was as Ron Hope in *Starfield*. He has also voiced iconic characters like the Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in *The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion*, three Daedric Princes in *The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind*, Fawkes and Maister Burke in *Fallout 3*, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in *Skyrim*, and Moe Cronin in *Fallout 4*, among others.
