Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receives two classic game modes and a beloved map this week, following a recent update addressing post-launch issues.
Infection and Nuketown Arrive This Week
Treyarch, the developer, announced via Twitter (X) the imminent arrival of the popular "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. "Infected" mode, a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombies, launching tomorrow. Nuketown, the 1950s-themed map first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), will be added on November 1st. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content updates. Black Ops 6, released October 25th, initially included 11 standard multiplayer modes, four alternate modes without Scorestreaks, and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Numerous Bugs
A weekend update addressed various multiplayer and Zombies mode issues. Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight now feature increased XP and weapon XP rates. Activision stated they are actively monitoring XP rates across all game modes. The update also resolved several problems including:
-
Global Issues:
- Loadout selection highlighting is now correctly displayed.
- Bailey's Operator menu animation has been fixed.
- The "Mute Licensed Music" setting is now functional.
-
Map Issues:
- Exploits allowing players to exit the intended play area in Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card have been patched.
- Red Card map stability has been improved.
- General in-game interaction stability has been addressed.
-
Multiplayer Issues:
- Matchmaking now more efficiently finds replacements for players who leave matches.
- Private matches will no longer forfeit if a team has zero players.
- The continuous Dreadnought missile sound effect has been fixed.
Further fixes for unresolved issues, such as the issue where players die on loadout selection in Search & Destroy, are planned. Despite these post-launch adjustments, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a top-tier Call of Duty title, particularly praising its engaging campaign.
