In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, like its predecessors, you'll battle across ancient China alongside various warlords before ultimately pledging allegiance to one. This guide explains faction selection.
Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei without committing to a specific faction. You'll participate in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
Chapter 3 presents the crucial faction choice. Before this point, you'll have opportunities to engage with each faction.
Choosing Your Faction
To ally with a faction, complete a specific number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completion, a mission requiring a faction choice will unlock. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all missions before making your final decision.
Your choice is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes inaccessible; you can't accept side quests from their officers, and your bond with them won't progress. This might impact gameplay difficulty. For instance, allying with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer commanding officers, limits early skill point acquisition opportunities.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save before choosing a faction, allowing you to replay with different allegiances.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
