The Rune Giant is Clash Royale's newest Epic card, unlocked in the Jungle Arena (Arena 9). A free Rune Giant is available via a launch offer until January 17th, 2025; after this date, it can only be obtained from chests or the in-game shop.
This guide explores the Rune Giant's strategic uses and presents effective deck builds.
Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview
The Rune Giant, an Epic card, targets enemy towers and defensive buildings. At tournament level, it boasts 2803 Hitpoints and medium movement speed, dealing 120 damage to buildings—more than an Ice Golem, but less than a Giant.
Its key feature isn't its tankiness, but its unique Enchant effect. Upon deployment, it enchants two nearby troops, boosting their damage output on every third hit. This buffing ability makes it potent in specific card combinations.
Costing only four elixirs, the Rune Giant cycles easily. Fast-attacking troops like the Dart Goblin maximize the Enchant effect, while slower troops benefit from strategic timing.
Observe how a buffed Hunter swiftly eliminates a Lava Hound before it reaches the tower (video clip implied).
Unlike the Golem, the Rune Giant isn't a primary win condition; it's a support troop that distracts enemies and shields other units during pushes.
Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale
These decks effectively utilize the Rune Giant:
- Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
- Battle Ram 3M
- Hog EQ Firecracker
Details on each deck follow.
Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
While the Goblin Giant Sparky deck remains viable, this variation incorporates the Cannon Cart.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
This beatdown deck boasts strong defense against various attack strategies. The Rune Giant buffs the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including Spear Goblins), maximizing damage. The Elixir Collector fuels consistent pushes, complemented by the Lumberjack and Rage spell for extra Goblin Giant boosts. However, its lack of air defense (besides Evo Bats) makes it vulnerable to Lava Hound decks. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.
Battle Ram 3M
This deck revitalizes the Three Musketeers, playing similarly to a Pekka Bridge Spam strategy.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
Early-game pressure from the Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram forces elixir expenditure from the opponent. The Elixir Collector builds an elixir advantage for the late game. The Three Musketeers are strategically deployed during Double Elixir. The Rune Giant and Hunter form a powerful defensive combo, with the Rune Giant tanking while the Hunter (buffed by the Rune Giant) eliminates threats. Evo Zap supports Battle Ram pushes. This deck uses the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
Hog EQ Firecracker
This top-tier Hog Rider deck benefits significantly from the Rune Giant.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
Gameplay mirrors the standard Hog EQ Firecracker deck, but the Rune Giant replaces the Valkyrie or Mighty Miner. The Rune Giant's Enchant dramatically enhances the Firecracker's damage. The Earthquake provides substantial tower damage in the late game. Evo Skeletons offer effective defense. This deck utilizes the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
The Rune Giant introduces a new strategic dimension to Clash Royale. Its buffing ability encourages experimentation with unique card combinations. The decks presented here offer a starting point; personalize them to optimize your playstyle.
