"Experience the complete story that inspired the TV show with definitive versions of two award-winning games," states the official description for The Last of Us Complete, "featuring graphical and gameplay improvements made possible by the PlayStation 5 console."
The Last of Us Complete includes both mainline stories along with all the bonus content added since their original releases. This encompasses the Left Behind Ellie-focused prequel DLC, as well as The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return and Lost Levels content. For those captivated by the HBO TV series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey but who haven't yet delved into the video games that started it all, the all-encompassing digital bundle is available for $99.99.
In a PlayStation.Blog post, Naughty Dog Head of Studio Neil Druckmann shared details about a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition, set to launch on July 10 for $109.99, with pre-orders available now. This edition comes with additional collectibles such as a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a thank-you letter from Druckmann himself.
"From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years," Druckmann's post reads. "This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love."
The Last of Us series originally debuted on the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a beloved part of the PlayStation catalog, despite criticism from some regarding its multiple re-releases and remasters. The journey of Joel and Ellie first transitioned to the PS4 with enhanced graphics in 2014 and was later remade for the PS5 in 2022. The Last of Us Part 2, which continued Ellie’s story, was released in 2020 and remastered in early 2024. Both titles have also made their way to PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 launching in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered arriving just last week.
The Last of Us Complete consolidates all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic offerings into a single package, marking yet another re-release. While this move might confuse some fans given the frequency of revisits to Joel and Ellie’s world, it aligns perfectly with the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday. Additionally, Season 3 was greenlit just yesterday.
