Crytek, a renowned game development studio, has announced a significant restructuring effort that includes laying off around 60 employees, which represents about 15% of its 400-strong workforce. This decision comes as the company grapples with financial challenges and aims to streamline its operations.

In a related development, Crytek has temporarily halted the development of the next installment in the Crysis series. This decision was made in the third quarter of 2024, with the studio now focusing all its resources on advancing Hunt: Showdown 1896. The company had considered reassigning staff to ongoing projects like Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis game, but found this approach unfeasible. Despite efforts to cut costs, Crytek determined that layoffs were necessary to ensure the company's sustainability.

Looking ahead, Crytek's primary focus will be on expanding content for Hunt: Showdown 1896, while the eagerly awaited new Crysis game has been postponed indefinitely. Despite these setbacks, Crytek remains optimistic about its future. The company is fully committed to further developing Hunt: Showdown 1896 and advancing its CRYENGINE technology, ensuring that it continues to innovate and deliver high-quality gaming experiences to its community.
