- DanChro service terminates September 29th - Second anniversary content arrives July 30th - Scheduled events will proceed unchanged
The mobile RPG Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Battle Chronicle (DanChro) will cease operations this September, marking exactly two years since its global release. Development directors announced today they can no longer sustain gameplay quality meeting player expectations.
Originally launching August 2023 with 1M+ preregistrations, DanChro surpassed 3M downloads rapidly. Leveraging the popular DanMachi franchise with frequent updates, the game blended 3D combat with character collection mechanics. Despite this strong foundation, it joins the increasing roster of gacha titles shuttering despite promising launches.
For its farewell season, DanChro will debut second-anniversary content on July 30th featuring an exclusive storyline by original author Fujino Omori - the game's final narrative addition. Simultaneously, all Selas purchases will become unavailable post-maintenance, with complete service termination across platforms scheduled for September's end.

With industry titans like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail dominating player engagement and spending, mid-tier gacha RPGs like DanChro struggle to maintain audiences. Without innovative mechanics or specialized niches, similar closures may become increasingly common.
Players have until September 29th to redeem remaining Selas, experience anniversary celebrations, and participate in final events. The official site contains complete scheduling details.
