Akupara Games has been prolific lately, releasing a string of titles. Following their deck-building game, Zoeti, comes The Darkside Detective, a puzzle adventure, and its sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (both released simultaneously!).
Exploring the Darkside Detective Universe
The game unfolds in the perpetually gloomy, fog-shrouded town of Twin Lakes, a place where the strange, supernatural, and utterly absurd are everyday occurrences. The protagonists are Detective Francis McQueen and his endearingly inept partner, Officer Patrick Dooley.
Together, they form the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department. Players solve nine quirky cases, delving into the hilariously bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty sequel.
These point-and-click adventures present a diverse range of challenges, from time-travel puzzles and tentacled horrors to the mysteries of a sinister carnival and mafia zombies. See the trailer below for a glimpse into the gameplay!
Ready to Investigate?
The game is a vibrant homage to pop culture, brimming with references to classic horror films, sci-fi series, and buddy cop movies. Case titles alone are intriguing: Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard, and Baits Motel.
The game’s masterful blend of humor and pixel art is a highlight. The Darkside Detective is available on the Google Play Store for $6.99. A Fumble in the Dark can be played independently of the prequel, also available on Google Play.
