Dune: Awakening Developers Explain Sandworm Behavior

Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a player's tool. Unlike the novels, players can't summon sandworms at will using a thumper.

Sandworms are independent NPCs with programmed behaviors and patrol routes. While you can't summon them to attack enemies, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention, but there's no guarantee.

Riding sandworms, a staple of Freman culture in the books, is absent in the initial release due to considerations from the Dune film franchise. However, future updates could potentially add this feature.

Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
