A new Sims game is in the works, and it's available now in Australia! While not the Sims 5 many are anticipating, The Sims Labs: Town Stories offers a mobile simulation experience currently in its playtest phase. This new title, part of EA's broader Sims Labs initiative (launched last August), serves as a testing ground for future Sims game features and mechanics.
Though not yet globally available for download on Google Play, Australian players can sign up via EA's website to participate.
Initial Reactions to The Sims Labs: Town Stories
Early reactions from gamers, primarily on Reddit, have been mixed. Concerns regarding the graphics and visuals, along with speculation about potential microtransactions, are prevalent.
Gameplay blends classic Sims building with character-driven narratives. Players build neighbourhoods, guide residents through personal stories, manage careers, and uncover secrets within the town of Plumbrook. Based on available footage, the gameplay appears familiar to long-time Sims players. Given its experimental nature, the current iteration likely represents a work-in-progress.
Interested players in Australia can find it on the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our next article covering Shop Titans' Halloween event!
