Ex-Witcher 3 Director Reveals Dark Fantasy Title

Rebel Wolves — the studio founded by former The Witcher 3 game director and Cyberpunk 2077 co-director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz — has officially announced their dark fantasy action-RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch in 2026.

During yesterday's Xbox Games Showcase, Rebel Wolves debuted pre-beta gameplay footage following protagonist Coen, "a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker — human by day, vampire by night" — as he struggles to control his newfound powers.

More revelations await on June 21st when Rebel Wolves hosts a special event timed to the summer solstice, "when the boundary between day and night grows thin, producing unforeseen consequences." The 45-minute presentation will feature approximately 15 minutes of new gameplay footage alongside developer insights.

The showcase will detail key mechanics including:

• The directional combat system combining swordplay, magic, and vampire abilities
• Exploration techniques for navigating Vale Sangora's environments
• Gameplay differences between daylight and nighttime that dramatically influence narrative progression

"It's been thrilling to finally share more about our game," said Tomaszkiewicz. "When we first announced in January, we promised summer gameplay reveals — now that moment has come."

The Gameplay Reveal Event on June 21 will demonstrate Coen's developing powers as he evolves into a Dawnwalker — a supernatural being straddling the worlds of light and darkness.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players control Coen — neither fully human nor completely vampire. With just one lunar cycle to either rescue his family or enact vengeance on his creator, every decision carries weight. The central dilemma challenges players: How much humanity would you sacrifice for those you love?
