FFVII Remake Part 3: Development Progressing! Director Confirms

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he assured.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous accolades and global player reception. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the unique challenges planned for the third game in the trilogy.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned being impressed by Grand Theft Auto VI this year. He expressed his admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following the phenomenal success of GTA V.

Specifics regarding the third installment remain undisclosed, although Hamaguchi confirmed development is progressing smoothly. This is notable given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago. He emphasized that players can anticipate a truly unique experience.

While Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales underperformed initial projections and fell short of fiscal year targets, the exact figures remain unannounced. Similarly, recent sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also fell short of expectations, has not been publicly released. Square Enix, however, has clarified that they do not view the sales of Rebirth as a complete failure, and maintains confidence that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its projected goals within the allocated 18-month timeframe.
