Forza Horizon 4: Digital Sales End on December 15, 2024
The popular open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 4, will be removed from major digital stores on December 15, 2024. This means no new purchases of the game or its add-on content will be possible after that date. While the game, set in a fictionalized UK, has enjoyed immense success since its 2018 release, boasting over 24 million players (as of November 2020), its digital availability is coming to an end.
Despite earlier assurances from developer Playground Games, licensing agreements are expiring, necessitating the delisting. This decision affects the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. All DLC will be unavailable for purchase from these platforms starting June 25, 2024, leaving only the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions available until the December 15th delisting date.
Forza Horizon 4's final series, Series 77, runs from July 25th to August 22nd. Post-Series 77, the playlist screen will be inaccessible, but the Forza Events screen, offering daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events, will remain active.
Existing players, whether owning physical or digital copies, can continue playing normally. Xbox Game Pass members with active, fully paid subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access. This delisting, unfortunately common in racing games due to expiring music and car licenses, mirrors the fate of Forza Horizon 3.
Currently, Steam offers an 80% discount on Forza Horizon 4, with an Xbox Store sale planned for August 14th. This provides a final opportunity for those wishing to add this acclaimed title to their collection.
