In Avowed, you face a crucial decision: free the imprisoned Ilora or leave her fate sealed. This guide explores the consequences of each choice, helping you navigate this early game dilemma.
Should You Free Ilora?
While Avowed champions player agency, freeing Ilora is strongly recommended. This path significantly eases your journey through Fort Northreach and unlocks a future side quest.
Freeing Ilora: The Benefits
Freeing Ilora provides invaluable assistance in overcoming Fort Northreach's challenges, including defeating Steadman Ralke, the area boss. Early in the game, your resources are limited; Ilora's aid proves incredibly helpful. Furthermore, completing the later "Escape Plan" side quest becomes considerably easier if you've saved her.
How to Free Ilora
Ilora reveals the key to her cell is located in the Warden's Room. Access this room by climbing crates, traversing to another platform, and entering a passageway above. Break through boards to descend into the Warden's Room; the key is near the door. Regardless of your choice regarding Ilora, use the key to unlock the adjacent cell and obtain the Deerskin Gloves.
Leaving Ilora: The Consequences
Choosing not to free Ilora dramatically increases the difficulty of Fort Northreach. The "Escape Plan" side quest also becomes significantly harder. Ironically, Ilora won't remain imprisoned; you'll later face her in combat, further complicating your escape. However, this path does allow you to loot her corpse, acquiring her possessions.
Ultimately, the decision rests with you, but freeing Ilora offers a smoother and more rewarding gameplay experience.
