Obtaining the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early on. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. This vendor stocks a range of items, including the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.
Utilizing the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is a single-use combat tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This is beneficial for players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, providing a limb-severing option without needing to switch to Light Melee weapons. Remember, you'll need to repurchase it for each Operation.
To use it, lock onto a severable Abductor part and use your Thorn to grapple towards it. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button mashing to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that the Abductor might interrupt the process by leaping or crashing.
Cooperative play enhances the Flare Knife's effectiveness. Snare the Abductor repeatedly with teammates to create more opportunities for successful severing.
