A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its next venture: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG. Partnering with 505 Games, this dark fantasy adventure plunges players into a world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.

An initial trailer highlights the game's swift, exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, distinctive visual aesthetic, and brooding atmosphere. Gameplay and art style echo elements of Lords of Shadow, while environmental and enemy design draw clear inspiration from Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer showcases a mechanical bird, hinting at its role in traversing the game's expansive world.

Leveraging MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges frequently associated with Unreal Engine 5 projects.

Blades of Fire is slated for release on May 22nd, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
