Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed the development of a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a critically acclaimed action RPG based on the Harry Potter universe, has sold over 24 million copies since its release. Variety reported Wiedenfels stating, "Clearly, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a top priority for us in the coming years. We anticipate significant growth from our games division, and this sequel will be a major contributor."
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad highlighted the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. In an interview with Variety, he emphasized, "Many players have revisited the game multiple times," adding that the game's success wasn't just about sales figures. "It brought Harry Potter to life in a completely new way for gamers, allowing them to truly immerse themselves in the world and story," Haddad explained. This immersive quality, he believes, deeply resonated with fans and propelled Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically held by established franchises' sequels. He concluded, "We're incredibly proud to have broken into the top ranks with an original title."
Game8 was particularly impressed by Hogwarts Legacy's stunning visuals, calling it the most visually captivating Harry Potter experience available. For a detailed review, please visit our site [link to review].
