As development begins on a new Wonder Woman film, all eyes are on James Gunn to see who he selects to succeed Gal Gadot as the world-renowned superhero in the rebooted DC Universe.
Speculation about Gunn's casting choices for the DCU has been fueled by his social media activity, leading fans to consider Adria Arjona as a potential Wonder Woman after noticing Gunn follows her on Instagram.
In a recent interview, Gunn played down the importance of his social media follows, though he dropped a hint that has only intensified the rumors.

Asked by Extra about the likelihood of a female actor playing Wonder Woman if he follows her online, Gunn jokingly replied, "50%."
Gunn then mentioned Adria Arjona, the actress Extra had in mind. Known for roles such as Dorothy Gale in the Oz-inspired series Emerald City, Anathema Device in Good Omens, and Bix Caleen in Andor, Arjona is at the center of casting rumors after fans spotted Gunn's Instagram follow.
Gunn explained that he began following her after they worked together on the 2016 thriller The Belko Experiment, so fans shouldn't read too much into it. Still, he added that Arjona "would make a great Wonder Woman"—exactly the kind of comment that suggests she's at least on his radar for the part.

Here is Gunn’s full statement:
“I followed Adria Arjona on Instagram, but then everyone assumed, ‘He just followed her—that must mean she’s Wonder Woman! She must be Wonder Woman!’
“She would be an excellent Wonder Woman, by the way. But we’ve known each other since we worked together on a film seven years ago. I’ve been following her since then; it’s not something new. People are just picking up on this now.”
Does this confirm Arjona as the next Wonder Woman? Gunn’s remarks have only added fuel to the speculation, though it’s important to note that DC Studios has not made any official announcement.
What we do know is that the new DCU launches this month with Superman, followed by Peacemaker Season 2 in August, and Supergirl and Clayface arriving in 2026. A release window for Wonder Woman has not yet been set.
