A Kindling Forest, a new action-adventure game from solo developer and high school teacher Dennis Berndtsson, offers a unique side-scrolling auto-runner experience packed with inventive mechanics. Prepare for a challenging journey filled with forests, arrows, and plenty of lava!
The Story: An ancient demon unleashes chaos upon the world, prompting forest spirits to awaken a long-dormant archer. Armed with a bow, he embarks on a perilous quest to vanquish the demon. But this isn't your typical straightforward adventure.
Gameplay: Constant movement is key. The screen scrolls relentlessly, presenting a barrage of sharp, unpredictable obstacles. Players must skillfully dodge or shoot these shards using their arrows, which are literally the forest spirits' aid. Running out of arrows means game over, making each shot crucial.
Five increasingly challenging levels await, throwing players into encounters with spiders, teleporting ruins, soaring clouds, and fiery lava. Strategically placed checkpoints provide a safety net, allowing players to restart and refine their approach after mistakes.
The game cleverly utilizes a split-screen design: one half for jumping, the other for shooting. Precise timing is paramount. A slow-motion effect during aiming provides a crucial window for accurate shots.
