In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the Battle of the Frogs and Mice is more than just a quirky side quest—it’s an opportunity to make a real impact on the world around you. Prochek and Olbram are locked in a bitter feud, and unless you intervene, their conflict could drag on indefinitely. Fortunately, there’s a way to bring peace to the pasture once and for all.
How to Start “Battle of the Frogs and Mice” in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To begin this side quest, you must first complete either the "Mice" or "Frogs" questline for Prochek or Olbram. Once you’ve completed one of these, the Battle of the Frogs and Mice will unlock automatically.Simply speak with Prochek in Tachov or Olbram in Zhelejov to officially start the quest. From there, you’ll be directed to the contested pasture where the showdown is set to take place.
Should You Side With Prochek or Olbram?
While it may seem like you’re forced to pick a side between the two feuding factions, there is a peaceful alternative. However, if you do choose to take sides, simply speak to your preferred leader—Prochek in Tachov or Olbram in Zhelejov—and declare your support by selecting the appropriate dialogue option.During the confrontation at the pasture, avoid trying to mediate between them, as this will trigger the fight prematurely. If you do engage in combat, successfully defending your chosen side will earn you a small reward in groschen.
How to Stop the Feud
If you’d rather end the feud peacefully, here’s what you need to do:
When speaking with either Prochek or Olbram before heading to the pasture, ask if they would consider ending the feud. Then, travel to Troskowitz and meet with Baliff Thrush. Choose the dialogue line: “You’d finally have some peace.”
Successfully passing the ensuing dialogue check will allow you to visit the scribe’s room and read the Troskowitz Chronicle. If persuasion fails, sneaking in is an alternative—but remember to save your game before attempting this.
Speak with the scribe and use the Latin phrase: “Fecit, ordinem in regione ope clavi ferrei.”
Next, head back to the pasture and locate three oak trees arranged in a row. Examine the middle tree to find a nail. Your options are:
- Leave the nail in the middle tree: This divides the land equally between Tachov and Zhelejov.
- Place the nail in the west tree: Grants more land to Tachov.
- Place the nail in the east tree: Grants more land to Zhelejov.
The decision is entirely yours—you can favor one side or remain neutral. After making your choice, return to Baliff Thrush, who will then agree to settle the dispute. Bring both Prochek and Olbram to the pasture to finalize the peace deal.
Finally, speak with Baliff Thrush again to receive the Master Studies I book as a reward.
And that’s how you resolve the Battle of the Frogs and Mice without bloodshed in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. For more walkthroughs and gameplay tips, keep an eye on The Escapist.
