Marvel Television has reportedly put the brakes on production for three anticipated shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit and may still see the light of day, but Marvel’s focus has shifted elsewhere. This strategic pivot comes as Marvel Studios gears up to release Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, scheduled for March 4th. Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, recently announced plans to reunite the street-level heroes from The Defenders—Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. This marks a significant shift in Marvel's approach to content creation.
While Marvel Studios continues to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it’s now focusing on producing more shows than ever before. However, as Winderbaum noted to Screen Rant, the studio is carefully evaluating each project moving forward. The news about Nova is especially unexpected, considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was confirmed as the writer and showrunner for the Disney+ series. As for Strange Academy, fans were expecting it to center around a magical academy founded by Doctor Strange, with Wong serving as the principal. Unfortunately, there’s currently no information available about Terror, Inc.
Looking ahead, Marvel TV enthusiasts can look forward to several upcoming releases. Daredevil: Born Again debuts on March 4th, followed by Ironheart on June 24th and Wonder Man later in December. Additionally, three MCU films are set to premiere this year, beginning with Thunderbolts on May 1st and The Fantastic Four: First Steps later in the year. These releases follow the debut of Captain America: Brave New World.
