As anticipated, the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially confirmed during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast, accompanied by an exciting new trailer. The game is set to launch on August 28, 2025, a date that had previously leaked through the PlayStation Store, alongside the trailer. Both the release date and trailer were officially validated during the event.
Adding to the excitement, an Ape Escape collaboration was teased, hinting at potential crossovers with other franchises. The teaser included a message saying “And More,” suggesting additional collaborations on the horizon. This initial tease seems to nod to the original Metal Gear Solid 3, which featured a memorable monkey minigame where Snake used stun grenades and his 'Monkey Shaker' gun to neutralize the animals.
While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater introduces a new first-person perspective, it remains largely a faithful recreation of the original. As IGN noted in our preview, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault."
