Microsoft's Edge Game Assist: The In-Game Browser Revolution
Microsoft is previewing Edge Game Assist, a game-aware browser designed to seamlessly integrate into your PC gaming experience. This innovative tool aims to eliminate the need for Alt-Tabbing, streamlining your gameplay.
Introducing the Game-Aware Tab
Microsoft recognizes that many PC gamers (88%, according to their research) use browsers during gameplay for assistance, progress tracking, music, or communication. The constant Alt-Tabbing disrupts the flow. Edge Game Assist offers a solution: an in-game browser overlay accessible via the Game Bar. This overlay provides a smooth, integrated browsing experience without interrupting gameplay.
Edge Game Assist shares your data with the standard Edge browser, meaning your bookmarks, history, cookies, and autofill information are readily available—no need for repeated logins.
A key feature is the game-aware tab page. Recognizing that 40% of PC gamers search for in-game tips and guides, Edge Game Assist proactively suggests relevant resources. This tab can even be pinned for real-time access to guides, enhancing your gameplay experience.
Currently in beta, this automatic suggestion feature supports a select group of popular games:
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Diablo IV
- Fortnite
- Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga
- League of Legends
- Minecraft
- Overwatch 2
- Roblox
- Valorant
More games will be added over time.
To access Edge Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, and then navigate to Settings within Edge to install the Game Assist widget.
