Microsoft is enhancing the Xbox Game Pass experience with exciting new features, including the introduction of Quests for PC Game Pass users. These updates, aimed at providing "age-appropriate gaming experiences," will be accessible only to players who are 18 years and older.
Xbox Game Pass offers subscribers access to a vast library of games on both Xbox consoles and Windows PCs for a monthly fee. The service is structured with different subscription tiers, each offering unique benefits. Among these, members can participate in Quests and Rewards, earning points by completing specific tasks, which can then be redeemed for various rewards. Starting January 7, these opportunities will expand to include PC Game Pass players, broadening the ways to earn points.
As detailed on Xbox Wire, PC Game Pass members will now have the chance to engage with Quests, previously exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Every player aged 18 or older with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership can access Xbox Quests and the Rewards Hub from their profile. Note that to earn points, a minimum playtime of at least 15 minutes is required, and Quests are limited to games within the Game Pass catalog, excluding those launched via third-party platforms.
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7
- New Game Pass quests available:
- Daily Play – Earn 10 points a day by playing any game from the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks – Play for at least five days a week to complete your streak. The more days you play, the more points you earn. Maintain your streak week over week to unlock bigger point multipliers: a 2-week streak earns 2x the base streak points, a 3-week streak earns 3x, and a streak beyond 4 weeks earns 4x the base streak points.
- Monthly 4-Pack – Explore the Game Pass catalog by playing four different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every month.
- Monthly 8-Pack – Push your gaming further and play eight different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every calendar month. The 4 games from your 4-Pack count towards the 8-Pack, too.
- PC Weekly Bonus, awarding 150 points when playing (for at least 15 minutes) for 5 days or more.
- The Rewards Hub, used for tracking and earning points on Xbox console, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox app for mobile, will no longer be available to players under 18 years old.
The revamped Game Pass Quest system simplifies the process of earning rewards, offering daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities. The return of Xbox Game Pass weekly streaks allows players to multiply their points by playing at least five days a week, with the multiplier increasing from 2x to 4x as they maintain their streak.
Members aged 18 and older can also earn a new PC weekly bonus by playing for 15 minutes a day over five days. Microsoft emphasizes its commitment to creating age-appropriate experiences, meaning players younger than 18 won't have access to these new benefits and rewards. Younger players can still earn rewards, but only through parentally approved purchases of eligible items on Microsoft’s store.
With these updates, Microsoft aims to enhance the enjoyment and value of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service for its adult members.
