The Monster Hunter Wilds development team, led by director Yuya Tokuda, has shared details about the upcoming May 28 Ver. 1.011 update, which promises a wealth of new features and exciting changes—including a high-octane collaboration with Street Fighter 6.
In the latest Director’s Letter, Tokuda explained that the goal of this update is to "provide more great content for you to enjoy, as well as make various adjustments to enhance the overall experience and make Monster Hunter Wilds even more fun to play." As part of the Street Fighter crossover, players will have the opportunity to battle—and earn rewards from—none other than Akuma himself. Upon defeating him, you’ll unlock the full Arkuma armor set along with layered armor options. While equipped with either set, three unique abilities—Assisted Combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken—will appear on your item bar for use in combat (learn more about these moves on the official Monster Hunter website).
Eight-Star Threats Arrive
Ver. 1.011 also introduces eight-star tempered monsters into the wilds, raising the stakes for seasoned hunters. Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Dunna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad will become available at HR 41 and above. These higher-tier variants offer tougher hunts than their seven-star counterparts, featuring increased health, enhanced wound resistance, and improved multiplayer scaling. According to Tokuda, Tempered Gore Magala is "a particularly tough challenge even for the best of hunters."
While seven-star versions remain accessible, the eight-star versions are designed to test your skills further. Additionally, as your Hunter Rank increases, expect to encounter more high-difficulty quests and multi-monster hunts.
Weapon Balance & Quality-of-Life Improvements
This update brings a series of "player-centric balance adjustments" across multiple weapon types. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun all receive tuning tweaks. Notably, certain parameters for Gunlance Artian weapons have been increased for better performance.
Tokuda emphasized that while some weapon stats have been reduced, others have seen improvements, resulting in an overall expansion of each weapon type's potential. He encouraged players to experiment with updated mechanics once the patch goes live, especially with the Hammer and Dual Blades, which are receiving additional enhancements.
New Features Designed for Convenience
Quality-of-life updates are also coming to Monster Hunter Wilds with Ver. 1.011 and Title Update 2. Hunters can now rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord, restoring all destroyed Pop-up Camps upon waking. When your item pouch is full, a confirmation window will no longer block progress—the extra item will be automatically sent to your storage box.
Other UI refinements include improved visibility of meal effect durations, now displaying a countdown when only 10 minutes remain. Notification frequency has also been adjusted to reduce clutter, showing only higher-priority targets in the environment overview, and ensuring map access remains unblocked.
Endemic Life Enhancements
As previously teased, players will soon be able to view individual endemic life they've captured. In the Windward Plains region, simply select “Check Endemic Life” under Ecological Research to review your collection, including creature names, fish sizes, and weights. You can even mark favorites to preserve them beyond storage limits—an ideal way to keep those rare or uniquely patterned creatures close at heart.
Performance Enhancements & Updated Rewards
Beyond new content, the update includes stability improvements—especially for Steam users. With the arrival of eight-star monsters, investigation and field survey rewards have also been scaled up accordingly. Additionally, Guild Point rewards for fishing activities have undergone rebalancing, though specifics remain under wraps for now.
