Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will be the final chapter for the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, set to conclude on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio shared this news via a blog post on their website, signaling the end of their support for the crossover brawler. MultiVersus, which debuted on May 28 of the previous year, will kick off its last season on February 4 and run until the final date in May 2025. At that time, online play will cease, but Player First has assured players that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible in offline modes, including local gameplay and training.
“Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus,” expressed the MultiVersus team. “All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Player First has also confirmed that real-money transactions for MultiVersus will no longer be available as of today, although fans can continue to use Gleamium and character tokens to access in-game content until support ends on May 30. Additionally, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
The closure of MultiVersus comes in the wake of Warner Bros. Discovery labeling the project as a significant failure. During a financial call in November, the company revealed that MultiVersus fell short of expectations, leading to a $100 million writedown in its games sector. This added to the $300 million total after the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Last week, Variety reported that Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad will be stepping down after a challenging 2024.
“We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November call.
Despite the game shutting down just days after its one-year anniversary, Season 5 promises to be a memorable farewell. Alongside the customary new content, the season will introduce new playable characters, Lola Bunny and Aquaman. Both characters will be available starting next week, with Lola Bunny unlockable as a daily calendar reward and Aquaman accessible through the battle pass.
