In NieR: Automata, certain upgrade materials are harder to come by than others. While many can be obtained from defeated enemies, some, like Filler Metal, require a bit more effort to acquire. These items often spawn randomly in the overworld, adding an element of randomness to the farming process.
Where To Find Filler Metal In NieR: Automata
Filler Metal is a rare item that spawns in the Factory, specifically in deeper areas. Its availability varies each time you traverse the Factory, with the lowest spawn rate among other items. Once you complete the main story and unlock the Factory: Hangar access point, you can fast travel there—a convenient starting point given its proximity to the deeper sections.
However, depending on your progress in the story, you may need to revisit earlier areas to unlock this access point again. Movement speed bonuses can slightly ease the farming process, but it remains unreliable. Your best bet is to simply clear the area thoroughly, collecting whatever spawns naturally. For a more consistent supply, purchasing Filler Metal is advisable.
Where To Buy Filler Metal In NieR: Automata
The sole vendor offering Filler Metal is the Shopkeeper Machine located in the Amusement Park. However, you can only access this shop after achieving one of the final endings, meaning you must complete all three playthroughs. Upon returning via Chapter Select, the Shopkeeper’s inventory updates, including Filler Metal priced at 11,250 G per piece.
Though the cost is high, buying Filler Metal ensures reliability, especially since it’s essential for upgrading Pods to tackle tougher enemies later in the game. Without these upgrades, enemies may remain below the required difficulty threshold, making progression challenging.
