Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has cancelled the physical release of the game for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The publisher cited technical difficulties with multilingual European localization as the reason for the cancellation.
A String of Delays Leads to Cancellation
The physical release, initially slated for March 2023, faced multiple delays, pushing it back to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally to January 2025. Pre-orders were impacted, with Amazon notifying customers of the repeated postponements. Ultimately, these setbacks resulted in the complete cancellation of the European physical release.
While Meridiem Games offered little additional detail regarding the localization issues on Twitter (X), the news has understandably disappointed fans who eagerly awaited an official Spanish and other European language versions. Currently, European players can only obtain physical copies by importing from regions outside of Europe, such as the US.
About Omori
Omori is a critically acclaimed RPG following Sunny, a young boy who isolates himself after a traumatic experience. The game blends the real world with Sunny's dream world, where he adopts the persona of Omori. Initially launched on PC in December 2020, it expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an issue with merchandise from the game's earlier development.
