Trainer's Pokémon and Team Rocket Cards: A 2025 Comeback

Official Release Date Still Under Wraps

Get ready for the comeback of "Trainer’s Pokémon" cards! The announcement, accompanied by a teaser trailer featuring trainers like Marnie, Lillie, and N, also hinted at the potential return of Team Rocket cards.

Original Trainer’s Pokémon cards were a defining feature of the early TCG. These cards depicted Pokémon belonging to specific trainers, boasting unique abilities and artwork. The teaser showcased Lillie’s Clefairy ex, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex, N’s Zoroark ex, and N’s Reshiram.

The trailer's brief glimpse of Mewtwo alongside the Team Rocket symbol fueled speculation about a dedicated Team Rocket set, or even the revival of Dark Pokémon—another popular early-game mechanic associated with Team Rocket and featuring darker, more powerful versions of familiar Pokémon. Rumors of a Japanese retailer listing and a trademark filing ("The Glory of Team Rocket") by The Pokémon Company further add to the anticipation.

Meanwhile, the current Kitikami chapter concludes with the release of the Shrouded Fable expansion this month, containing 99 cards (64 main cards and 35 secret rare cards), according to the Pokémon TCG blog. With these exciting developments, Pokémon TCG fans have much to look forward to.
