Pokemon GO Announces Lunar New Year 2025 Event

Get ready for the Pokémon GO Lunar New Year 2025 celebration! Niantic has announced a vibrant event running from January 29th to February 2nd, brimming with opportunities to catch Lucky Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and earn fantastic rewards.

This event coincides with Pokémon GO's ninth anniversary, setting the stage for a year packed with exciting updates and events leading up to Pokémon GO Fest. The Lunar New Year festivities precede the highly anticipated Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, scheduled for late February and March.

Event Highlights:

  • Event Dates: Wednesday, January 29th, 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 2nd, 8:00 p.m. local time.
  • Increased Lucky Pokémon Chances: Boost your chances of securing Lucky Pokémon through trades and becoming Lucky Friends.
  • Boosted Wild Encounters: Prepare for increased encounters with Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini, including Shiny variants! 2km Eggs will also feature Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi.
  • Reward-Packed Research: Complete Field Research and Timed Research tasks for Stardust, XP, Zygarde Cells, and Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) offers even more substantial rewards, including two Lucky Eggs and an incubator.
  • Collection Challenge: A special Collection Challenge awaits, rewarding you with extra Stardust for trading.
  • PokéStop Showcases: Showcase your Lunar New Year Pokémon at PokéStops for potential item bundle rewards.
