Get ready, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers! A thrilling Mass Outbreak event is underway, celebrating the upcoming Year of the Snake. This special event, running until January 12, features increased numbers of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper, with heightened chances of encountering their Shiny versions. The Snakelike Mass Outbreak is your perfect opportunity to catch these slithering Pokemon in bulk.
The event kicked off on January 9 at 7:00 PM Eastern and will wrap up on January 12 at 6:59 PM Eastern. Depending on your progress in the main story, you'll find these Pokemon at levels ranging from 10 to 65. Silicobra will be scattered across the Paldea region, Ekans will be lurking in Kitakami, and Seviper will be found in the Terarium. To participate, simply connect to the Internet, navigate to the Poke Portal from the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News" to access the Mass Outbreaks.
During the Snakelike Mass Outbreak, the base Shiny encounter rate is boosted by 0.5%. If you're on the hunt for a Shiny Silicobra, Ekans, or Seviper, consider crafting a Shiny Sandwich to further enhance your odds. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper. For Silicobra, swap the pepper for Ham.
This event follows closely on the heels of the Shiny Rayquaza Tera raid, which concluded 2024's Year of the Dragon. Despite Rayquaza's vulnerability to Fairy-type attacks making the raid relatively easy, the chance to catch a Shiny variant was a highlight for many trainers.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an exciting year with the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A on the horizon. However, the future of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet remains uncertain as we enter the Year of the Snake. What The Pokemon Company has in store for us is anyone's guess, but for now, make the most of the Snakelike Mass Outbreak and chase those Shiny dreams!
