Rockstar Games Features Danny Dyer's New Film

Author : Penelope Update:Mar 12,2025

Rockstar Games' recent X post promoting the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer, likely left many scratching their heads. Why would a studio with 21 million followers promote a relatively small British film? Let's unravel the mystery.

Who is Danny Dyer?

For those unfamiliar, Daniel John Dyer, or Danny Dyer, is a prominent East London actor. In the UK, he's a household name, often described as an "absolute legend"—a term signifying someone funny, reckless, original, and sensitive. His career spans back to 1993, with a reputation for portraying gritty, working-class characters, mirroring his outspoken public persona and "tough uncle" demeanor. His social media presence is equally boisterous, filled with memorable posts.

Danny Dyer's Connection to Rockstar

While seemingly unrelated, Dyer's voice is familiar to GTA fans. He voiced Kent Paul, manager of the band Love Fist in GTA: Vice City, and later the Gurning Chimps in GTA: San Andreas. However, a deeper connection lies in the 2004 film The Football Factory, directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games itself. This film marks a unique foray into feature film production for the gaming giant.

Marching Powder, the film Rockstar promoted, reunites Dyer and Love, exploring similar themes of football hooliganism, heavy drinking, drug use, and uniquely British humor. Despite the X post, Rockstar's involvement is purely supportive, stemming from their prior collaboration on The Football Factory.

Kent Paul's Return in GTA 6?

The possibility of Kent Paul appearing in GTA 6 is purely speculative. The GTA universe is divided into distinct 3D and HD eras, with separate storylines. While crossovers exist (like Grove Street's appearance in GTA 5), the likelihood of a direct continuation from the PS2 era is low. However, Kent Paul's presence on the Vinewood Walk of Fame hints at a possible, albeit slim, chance of a cameo.

In conclusion, Rockstar's X post was a show of support for a film featuring a familiar face from their past, not a cryptic hint at GTA 6 content.
