Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia

One of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is finally giving fans a taste of what’s to come. A playable version of the game will be featured at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) as part of its new exhibition titled Game Worlds. This new build may differ significantly from the E3 2019 demo, which many viewed more as a "proof of concept" than a final product.
The Game Worlds exhibition will run from September 18, 2025, through February 8, 2026. It will showcase several iconic titles such as World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s very own Hollow Knight: Silksong. The exhibit will include exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and significant artifacts from each game.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, “Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet—and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September.”

Since its 2019 reveal, updates about Silksong have been minimal, leaving fans hungry for news and speculation about its release. With this exhibition, ACMI aims to offer deeper insight into the development and creative process behind the sequel.
The co-curators shared that the exhibit would explore the intricate details of Silksong. They added, “From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights—and of course, having the game playable in-gallery—our Silksong displays delve deeply into the artistic direction and design philosophy behind the game.”

While the Australian exhibit could hint at Silksong's potential launch window, no official release date has been announced yet. Last month, Silksong made a surprise appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a 2025 release window. Since the Game Worlds exhibit runs until early 2026, fans are hopeful the game might arrive as early as September 2025 or within the exhibition period.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our dedicated article below!
