Ryan Coogler simply doesn't miss. As highlighted in Eric Goldman's review for IGN: "After establishing his mastery of the boxing film and the superhero blockbuster, Coogler now explores the horror genre with the vampire period piece, Sinners. And the result? He proves to be just as brilliant in this new territory." Sinners hit theaters on April 18 and has since managed the rare feat of becoming both a commercial triumph and a critical darling.
While I strongly advise seeing Sinners on the largest screen available – let Coogler himself explain why – a full cinema trip isn't always possible. For those waiting to experience this vampire film from the comfort of home, Sinners is now available for digital rental or purchase.
Sinners Arrives on Digital

Sinners
Desperate to escape their troubled lives, twin brothers head back to their birthplace for a fresh start, only to find a far more sinister evil waiting to welcome them home. See it at Prime Video
The film's transition to digital occurs roughly six weeks after its theatrical debut. Warfare recently became available to rent in under four weeks, while Snow White took approximately two months. These shrinking theatrical windows reflect an industry-wide trend and should not diminish the film's accomplishments. I would argue that securing six weeks of exclusive theatrical run for a completely original film is a notable achievement in 2025.
Naturally, the successes don't end there. Sinners was reportedly made on a $90 million budget, substantial for a horror film, yet it recouped its costs effortlessly. According to Box Office Mojo, Sinners has grossed over $350 million globally, currently ranking as the eighth highest-grossing film of 2025. This financial performance is particularly impressive for an original, R-rated horror movie still showing in cinemas.
Streaming Release Date
Sinners is ultimately slated for HBO Max, as it's distributed by Warner Bros., the streaming service's parent company. Recent Warner Bros. releases, such as Mickey 17, arrived on streaming a little under three months after their theatrical premieres. Following this pattern, Sinners could land on HBO Max by mid-July. Should the movie maintain its strong theater attendance, however, its streaming debut might be delayed slightly.
