Short Circuit Studio has just announced an exciting new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update adds a darker, more intriguing layer to the game's charming pixel-art style, introducing a host of new mechanics to explore.
Even though TownsFolk is newly released, the developers are not holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces new buildings and challenges that promise to mix things up. Players will now have to contend with roaming Barbarians that add a thrilling element of tension to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, eight new structures are being added, including the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer.
The aquatic elements of the game are also getting a significant upgrade with the addition of a rare Whale in the water tiles, enhancing the game's visual and strategic depth. Furthermore, the unpredictability of the game is increased with the introduction of Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks, which players can explore to uncover their secrets and benefits.
To help players navigate the new content, a handy Compendium has been introduced, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of everything. The Exploration System has been reworked, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, catering to different play styles and skill levels.
