After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has arrived, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. Fear not, this guide will help you conquer your Rune Slayer journey.

Here are some crucial early-game tips we wish we'd known:
Don't Randomly Attack Other Players
Screenshot by The EscapistRune Slayer's full-loot PvP initially caused concern, but it's less brutal than expected. Death doesn't mean losing your items; you simply respawn. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. The more you kill, the larger your bounty, and the more loot you drop upon your own demise. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-inflicted. Unless you have a strong reason (or a group for backup!), avoid attacking other players.
Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags! Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs there). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots—craft them ASAP.
Your Pets Don't Actually Die

Contrary to popular belief, your pets don't perish when their health reaches zero. They become temporarily unavailable for five minutes. Check the cooldown by holding T. After five minutes, resummon them using the same keybind. Bonus tip: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the Stable Master (you have one free slot).
Accept Every Quest

Craft Everything at Least Once

Craft what you need, but also experiment with crafting items you don't immediately require, using spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks new, more powerful recipes. For example, crafting Iron Ore unlocked new Iron Armor recipes for us. Don't hoard materials; craft away!
Join a Guild
While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies later in the game are designed for group combat. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find groups for these challenges. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
