The Dark Instrument Violin in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in HawaiiThe Dark God's Violin is the first, and story-essential, Dark Instrument. It's obtained during Chapter 2. A crew member, Jason, leads you to a meeting with an old friend, but this encounter introduces the Devil Flag pirates, who've killed Jason's friend and stolen the Pharaoh Stone. This sets off a side story involving Misaki, the friend's daughter, who joins Goro's crew seeking revenge. Following the questline leads you to islands east of Madlantis, where a challenging battle with a stronger-than-usual Devil Flag fleet awaits. Focus your attacks on the boss ship to board and defeat them, earning you the Dark God's Violin. The game then lets you test it out in a 100-enemy brawl. Defeating the Devil Flags on the island triggers a cutscene introducing the fleet captains: Yakuza, Ronin, Shinobi, and Zeus, who challenge Goro to further battles. While not required for the main story, defeating these captains is necessary to collect all Dark Instruments.

Sail to the Flame Entrance Lighthouse, triggering a cutscene and unlocking four treasure islands (Sunset, Heatwave, Welldone, and Scorching Heat) to conquer. Remember, health items are unavailable on these islands; upgrade your crew. After conquering the islands, another fleet battle awaits; focus on the boss ship. Defeat the first mate to land on Flame Island. Jason, Masaru, Minami, and Saejima are recommended crew members. More battles lead to a final confrontation with Captain Ronin. Use your acquired Dark Instruments to defeat him and obtain the Dark God of the Earth's Guitar.

Battles on the island lead to a cave and a recovery area before the final boss fight against Captain Shinobi. After defeating him, a cutscene with Zeus ensues, where he takes Misaki hostage.
