Fans familiar with Vegeta's Great Ape transformation in Dragon Ball Z know the potential for destruction. Sparking! ZERO amplifies this to extreme levels. The relentless barrage of beam attacks, including the infamous Galick Gun, and a devastating grab move, quickly transforms the battle into a desperate struggle for survival. Players frequently restart encounters upon seeing the Galick Gun wind-up.

Instead of immediate patches, Bandai Namco UK's Twitter (X) account playfully acknowledged the player frustration with a meme featuring a GIF of Great Ape Vegeta overwhelming Goku.

This difficulty, however, isn't entirely unprecedented. Veteran players recall similar traumatic encounters with Great Ape Vegeta in Budokai Tenkaichi, a game often described as a survival test.

Great Ape Vegeta isn't the only hurdle. Even on Normal difficulty, CPU opponents unleash devastating, difficult-to-counter combos. Super difficulty exacerbates this, with an AI seemingly possessing an unfair advantage, leading many players to lower the difficulty to Easy.

Despite the widespread "monke hands" beatdowns, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is a massive success. Early access saw a peak of 91,005 concurrent Steam players, surpassing giants like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat.

This success isn't surprising. Sparking! ZERO effectively revives the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi subseries, fulfilling a long-awaited fan desire.
