Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Switch Online Playtest

Nintendo Alarmo Alarm Clock Releases Before GTA 6

Who saw this coming? Nintendo has launched the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, an interactive alarm clock priced at $99. Beyond this unexpected release, they've also announced a mysterious Switch Online playtest.

The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo

Free Alarm Sound Updates on the Way!

Nintendo's new alarm clock uses game sounds to coax you out of bed. The Alarmo features sounds from popular franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, with free updates promised. The alarm only stops when you fully leave your bed, adding a playful element to the morning routine. Setup involves selecting a game, scene, and alarm time. While waving your hand quiets the alarm, prolonged slumber will only increase its intensity.

The Alarmo employs a radio wave sensor to detect movement without compromising privacy. This technology allows for detection even in dark rooms or with obstacles present, as explained by Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama. The sensor's sensitivity to subtle movements is a key feature.

Early access to the Alarmo is available to Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada via the My Nintendo Store for a limited time. The Nintendo New York store also offers in-person purchases.
