Pine: A Story of Loss Cuts Deep into Grief with a Woodworker's Tale

Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games' poignant interactive story and video game, Pine: A Story of Loss, is now available on Android. This emotionally resonant journey follows a woodworker grappling with grief in a beautifully illustrated forest setting, reminiscent of titles like Monument Valley.

A Journey Through Grief, Memory, and Hope

The game's simple yet profound premise centers on a woodworker tending his garden and collecting wood in a stunning forest glade. However, beneath the surface lies deep sorrow. Memories of his deceased wife frequently intrude, pulling him into bittersweet flashbacks. Instead of suppressing these memories, he channels his grief into creating small wooden keepsakes, attempting to preserve the love he’s lost.

Pine: A Story of Loss is a wordless, immersive short story experience, perfect for a single sitting. Players relive the couple's joyful past through charming puzzles and mini-games. The handcrafted carvings radiate a sense of hope.

The game's captivating hand-drawn art, created by Tom Booth (a veteran artist who has collaborated with DreamWorks, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Supercell, and HarperCollins), is undoubtedly its highlight. Booth teamed up with programmer Najati Imam to craft a deeply personal narrative.

Will You Embrace the Emotional Journey?

Beyond its stunning visuals, the game boasts a fitting soundtrack and immersive sound design. The absence of dialogue is masterfully complemented by the rustling leaves, creaking wood, and a touching musical score.

If you appreciate games that prioritize emotional storytelling and immersive experiences, Pine: A Story of Loss is worth exploring. It's available on the Google Play Store for $4.99.
