Square Enix RPG Makes Triumphant Return to Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed Square Enix title, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. The game's brief absence, lasting several days, has ended, allowing players to once again purchase and download this popular tactical RPG.

This return follows Square Enix's recent acquisition of the game's publishing rights from Nintendo. While no official explanation was given for the delisting, this acquisition is widely speculated as the cause.

Triangle Strategy, lauded for its classic tactical RPG gameplay, has drawn comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic combat, focusing on unit positioning and maximizing damage, has resonated strongly with players.

The game's reappearance on the eShop was announced via a Square Enix tweet. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has experienced a temporary delisting; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was significantly faster, with only a four-day absence compared to Octopath Traveler's several-week hiatus.

This event highlights the strong ongoing relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This partnership is evident in previous releases like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the Nintendo Switch exclusive release of Dragon Quest 11. Square Enix's history of console exclusives, stretching back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, continues with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive). The return of Triangle Strategy to the Switch eShop is welcome news for fans of both companies.
