Tumblr—Fandom, Art, Chaos

Welcome back to the wonderfully weird.

Tumblr is where your next favorite artist awaits. You’ll come for the vibrant digital art spanning every fandom imaginable. You’ll stay for the stunning original creations from those very same artists. And in between it all, you'll find that classic internet energy. Every fandom you could dream of. Enough memes to overwhelm a reasonably sized animal. Add your own voice or simply scroll and soak it all in.

Every piece of life-altering art you uncover, every mesmerizing waterfall GIF, every quote you reblog, every tag you curate—that’s your fingerprint. Reblog to tell the world who you are and what moves you. You’re the explorer. We're just the map you all keep drawing. Welcome home. Make it your own.

Artists, you’re entering a community that will adore your work. Think of this as your digital studio with endless possibilities: a portfolio that serves as your creative calling card, complete with built-in engagement, or a virtual sketchpad to develop ideas, share drafts, and get feedback. Accept requests and commissions or jump into art challenges like Goblin Week, Mermay, Julycanthropy, and Yeehawgust. Debate the merits of your favorite brushes. Draw original characters for your favorite Tumblr writers. Sell prints, mugs, coasters, and other merch of your work—directly to an audience invested in you, actively searching in our Artist Alley. Launch a webcomic (ever heard of Heartstopper? It started right here.).

Now imagine all of that, but in your pocket. That's what this is.

If you’ve seen it somewhere else, it likely began here. That digital painting you can’t get out of your head. That brilliant text post unpacking something you never knew you needed to understand. Your dashboard will become a tapestry of everything wonderful, absurd, and fantastical that you love. Whether you post actively, quietly like things, or reblog to your personal online scrapbook. Whatever your corner of the internet, you’ll find a home here.

When you have something to say—a hot take on Virgo moons, Barbie fanfic, a must-share photo of your turtle Harold—go for it with a photo, video, or text post. Record an audio post of your thoughts or share your current favorite song via Spotify. We even have a preset chat post for all your incorrect quotes.

The reblog sparks conversations for all, creates jokes, and carries them forward—sometimes across the globe and over the years. Time and space are right at your fingertips. Whatever you send into our vibrant digital ether, know it can and will travel anywhere. (Unless you use our post-level controls. Want a private blog or post? You can do that here.)

Tumblr is the heart of fandom. We all have that one special blorbo from our shows. There’s fanart you’ll want to gaze at, reblog, and gaze at again—or create yourself and share. You can read your favorite AO3 authors *and* see their original art on Tumblr *and* debate lore details with them. Pokémon? Got it. Marvel? Here. K-pop? Check. Supernatural? Obviously. Minecraft? Ready and waiting. Star Wars? Yes! Doctor Who? Doctor YOU! You get the picture: it’s all here.

It’s a whole universe. If the idea of creating, reblogging, shipping, and curating feels a bit overwhelming, visit tips.tumblr.com, where Cat Frazier (animatedtext.tumblr.com) will guide you through the finer points of Tumblr culture—the effervescent, the eeby, the deeby.

So sign up, fall in love with some art, follow some tags, and find your spot on the dashboard. Then reblog, like, and post to your heart's content. Or simply drift through the dreamscape you’ve crafted for yourself—you hold the keys to this kingdom.
