A renowned musician, crushed by a contract dispute with his publisher, dies under suspicious conditions. The official cause is an overdose, but his best friend, aware he never used drugs, launches an investigation. The friend finds a bottle of gold sodium thiomalate, a rare arthritis drug, near their dead dog's body. The symptoms align with the musician's autopsy, confirming poisoning.

Suspecting foul play, the friend observes the musician's brother, a lesser-known singer with arthritis, always wearing gloves. The friend concludes that the brother, weary of living in his sibling's shadow, poisoned him.
