The "Digital Revolution of Devarattam" app is a groundbreaking project aimed at promoting and preserving the traditional folk dance of Tamil Nadu known as Devarattam. This initiative is a tribute to the legends of this art form, including Kalaimamani Mr. M Kumararaman, a retired teacher, Kalaimani Mr. M Kannan Kumar, and Kalaimani Mr. K Nellai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti. These revered figures have been honored with prestigious awards such as the KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR, respectively, for their contributions to Devarattam. The app is dedicated to these luminaries, as well as my guru, Mr. E Rajakamulu, and other beloved legends of Devarattam. Its primary goal is to spread awareness about Devarattam and celebrate its awardees.

Devarattam, performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community, is an ancient dance with roots that stretch back through time. This dance form is characterized by its intricate steps, ranging from 32 to 72 in total, with the 32 steps forming the foundational sequence. The additional steps are variations of these basic movements, allowing for a rich and dynamic performance. Dancers of Devarattam enhance their performance by holding a kerchief in each hand and wearing salangai (anklets) on each leg. They dance to the rhythmic beats of the Deva Thunthumi, a traditional musical instrument that adds to the cultural richness of the performance.
