Veilguard Ditches Denuvo DRM, Trusts Players

Author : Joshua Update:May 14,2025

Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They

BioWare has announced exciting yet bittersweet news for fans of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While players won't have to contend with the notorious issues associated with DRM, PC gamers will miss out on the opportunity to preload the game.

Veilguard Fans Rejoice Over No DRM Decision

But No Preload for PC Players

"Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you," announced Dragon Age: The Veilguard project director Michael Gamble on Twitter (X). For those unfamiliar, digital rights management (DRM) tools like Denuvo are anti-piracy measures favored by major game publishers such as EA. However, these tools are often criticized by players, especially PC gamers, for causing performance issues. BioWare's decision to forego DRM has been met with widespread approval. "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you," one fan responded to Gamble's announcement.

In addition to the absence of DRM, Veilguard will not require players to be always online to enjoy the game, as confirmed by Gamble in a follow-up tweet. However, this decision comes at a cost for PC players, as BioWare has stated that "the lack of DRM means that there will be no preload period for PC players." This news has been a letdown for some, especially considering Veilguard's hefty 100GB storage requirement. On the brighter side, console players remain unaffected and can still preload the game. Xbox players with early access can install it immediately, while PlayStation early access users must wait until October 29.

Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They

Alongside the DRM announcement, BioWare unveiled the system requirements for Veilguard. "Players with high-end rigs will be able to take advantage of our suite of Ray Tracing features and uncapped frame rates. For the minimum PC specs, we focused on making the game as accessible to as many people as possible," stated BioWare. "For consoles (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S), there will be fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively." To fully experience Ray Tracing on PC, your system needs to feature either an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB of RAM, and a graphics card like the Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT.
