Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for cancer research.
The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, a significant increase of over $100,000 compared to the 2024 event. This annual winter speedrunning marathon featured a diverse lineup of games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.
AGDQ, a major event hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), is one of two primary events held annually, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick marathon in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A notable recent event was the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.
The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin speedrun. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and community outreach. The partnership between GDQ and PCF has yielded over $26 million in donations across various events.
A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing covers of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid race.
Looking ahead, GDQ will host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis on July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
